Shop Superintendent Duties
Purpose:
The function of the Shop Superintendent is to ensure the productivity and efficiency of the fabrication processes in the shop by observing and directing personnel to perform specific jobs to achieve the intended results.
The Shop Superintendent is to be on site Monday through Friday (7 AM-6 PM) with some weekends required. Weekends will be rotated to other management, as needed. (roughly every 3-4 weekends)
Daily Scheduling:
Communicating daily with the Production Manager to understand the project timelines and customer expectations for production.
Assigning specific tasks and daily production expectations to the employees available for shop work
Notify the Production Manager of any material or production delays that will affect the project timeline in a timely manner, so that overtime scheduling or material expediting can be arranged.
Scheduling employees for overtime work as approved by the Production Manager to meet project timelines.
Reviewing and Approving Time Sheets:
Verifying hours worked and task descriptions for shop employees on a daily basis.
Enforcing Time Clock policy
Enforcing Break Periods:
Strictly and consistently enforce the company’s work schedule and break period policies.
Enforcing Company Policies:
Strictly and consistently enforce the company’s policies as stated in AP Fabrications employee handbook.
Requisitioning Shop Supplies:
Identifying consumables and tools required for the shop prior to project starting.
Creating order lists for shop items
Initial Project Review Meetings:
Attend project review meetings, as requested, to identify fabrication and manpower issues for upcoming projects
Tracking Employee Productivity:
Ensuring that employees are working steadily.
Reviewing expected production vs. actual production on a daily basis
Personal Productivity:
Shop Superintendent will be a working foreman and will be responsible for his/her own personal production
Responsible for enforcing safety among all personnel
