Systems Leader - Refrigeration

We are seeking a Systems Leader – Refrigeration to spearhead the development of systems-level architecture, integration, and execution across multiple foodservice product lines. This individual contributor role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to decompose high-level requirements into detailed system specifications, define and govern key technical interfaces, and lead the integration, verification, and validation processes.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the technical lead for large-scale engineering projects with multiple variants.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to conceptualize and develop new products or enhance existing ones, managing systems-level requirements and interfaces in mechanical, electrical, performance, and data communication domains.
  • Partner with the Refrigeration Principal Engineer to define and implement the refrigeration systems architecture and technology roadmap.
  • Manage requirements through the V-model approach, ensuring traceability from elicitation through integration and validation.
  • Mentor junior engineers to promote best practices and consistent processes within the engineering function.
  • Lead project teams in scoping, developing timelines, budgets, and resource plans, ensuring timely delivery while meeting customer and quality requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance to engineering teams, resolving challenges and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Interface with reliability teams to ensure designs meet reliability and market requirements.
  • Drive design processes, testing, reviews, and regulatory changes for refrigeration sealed systems, focusing on flammable, low-GWP refrigerants.
  • Develop detailed specifications for suppliers, drive Design for Manufacturing and Assembly activities, and collaborate with supply chain on supplier selection and management.
  • Manage the Impact of Change process in collaboration with Program and Product Management throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Lead engineering teams in effective risk analysis, management, and mitigation planning.

Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience in writing technical requirements and specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with refrigeration system design, product development, and product launches, including hands-on engineering, testing, and optimization.
  • Systems thinker with a holistic approach to analysis, focusing on system interactions and outcomes.
  • Familiarity with complex electro-mechanical systems design and refrigeration appliances.
  • Understanding of multiple engineering disciplines and their interactions.
  • Experience providing feedback and leadership to team members outside of direct reporting lines.
  • Strong ownership and accountability for team deliverables.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g., UL, NSF, DOE, IEC, ETL, ISO, EN).
  • Proficiency in Six Sigma tools (e.g., DOE, ANOVA, 8D, 5 Whys, A3s, DMAIC).
  • Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
  • Proficiency in industry-standard CAD and PLM systems.
  • Understanding of simulation types and their applications.
  • Experience with Model-Based Design / Model-Based Systems Engineering (e.g., UML/SysML) is a plus.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience in architecting, designing, implementing, and launching complex refrigeration systems and products.
