Senior Process Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Process Engineer to play a critical role in advancing our manufacturing operations through process optimization, automation, and capital project leadership.  This position is ideal for a hands-on engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys driving meaningful improvements in safety, efficiency, and reliability.
In this role, you will lead key initiatives that directly impact production performance and long-term operational success.  You’ll partner closely with cross-functional teams and have the opportunity to influence both day-to-day operations and future-state capabilities.
What You’ll Do
Process Improvement & Optimization
  • Lead process design, scale-up, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Optimize production for yield, throughput, quality, and cost efficiency
  • Troubleshoot complex process and equipment challenges
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards
Automation & Controls
  • Design and enhance automated process control systems
  • Work with PLC platforms (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar)
  • Support and improve SCADA and real-time monitoring systems
  • Collaborate on automation upgrades and Industry 4.0 initiatives
Capital Projects
  • Lead capital projects from concept through commissioning
  • Develop equipment specifications and support vendor selection
  • Oversee installation, startup, and validation activities
  • Manage contractors and ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget
Financial & Strategic Impact
  • Develop capital justifications including ROI and payback analysis
  • Manage CAPEX budgets and track project performance
  • Provide clear reporting and ensure responsible investment decisions
Leadership & Collaboration
  • Partner with Operations, Maintenance, EHS, and IT teams
  • Mentor junior engineers and technical staff
  • Drive continuous improvement across processes and systems
What You Bring
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
  • 7+ years of experience in a manufacturing or chemical environment
  • Proven experience leading capital projects
  • Hands-on experience with PLCs, automation, and process control systems
Technical Strengths
  • Strong understanding of process control and instrumentation
  • Experience with industrial automation, SCADA, and HMI systems
  • Familiarity with industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profibus)
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
Nice to Have
  • Experience in specialty chemicals, polymers, or batch processing
  • Exposure to ERP systems (e.g., D365)
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement certification
  • PE license
